The reigning WNBA Champion New York Liberty have made a strong addition to their roster, signing veteran forward Isabelle Harrison in open free agency. The 6-foot-3 Nashville native brings experience and versatility to the Liberty’s frontcourt as they prepare to defend their title in 2025.

Harrison, 30, has spent seven seasons in the WNBA with Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas, and most recently, Chicago. She is currently showcasing her skills in the Athletes Unlimited (AU) league in Nashville, where she continues to make a significant impact. This week, she was named one of the Week 3 captains and delivered a stellar performance Game #16, scoring 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting while grabbing 12 rebounds to secure her second double-double of the season. In addition, she contributed three assists, a block, and a steal, earning MVP 2 honors despite the defeat.

Harrison’s dominance in AU basketball is undeniable. Her latest double-double marked the 11th of her AU career, placing her fourth in league history. She also reached the 20-point mark for the 20th time in her AU career, joining elite company alongside Odyssey Sims and Kelsey Mitchell as one of only three players to achieve this milestone. Furthermore, her 19th Game MVP selection moved her into third place on the league’s all-time list, and she became just the fourth player in AU history to surpass 1,000 career MVP points.

Liberty Head Coach Sandy Brondello is no stranger to Harrison’s talent, having originally drafted her while coaching in Phoenix. Brondello expressed enthusiasm about the signing, stating, “We are excited to welcome Izzy Harrison to the Liberty family and look forward to the positive impact she will have on and off the court. Having originally drafted her with Phoenix, she has consistently demonstrated the ability to impact games on both ends. Izzy’s versatility and commitment strengthens our post rotation and makes her an ideal fit for our team as we pursue another championship in 2025.”

With Harrison’s addition, the Liberty have further bolstered their frontcourt with another veteran presence. She brings size, defensive tenacity, excellent passing ability, and strong rebounding skills to an already formidable squad. Over her WNBA career, she has posted solid averages of 8.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists while shooting 47.4% from the field.

Sabrina Ionescu is currently in Miami for Unrivaled but she took to IG to show her excitement for the signing.

Earlier this season on X, Izzy shared that Sabrina checks in on her after every game.

As the Liberty gear up for another title run, the addition of Harrison provides them with a well-rounded forward who can contribute in multiple facets of the game. With her experience, skill set, and winning mentality, she is poised to be a key piece in New York’s championship aspirations for the 2025 season.
